About The Now

The internet has enough answers about tomorrow. This is a place for today.

What this is

The Now is a place to ask about what you are actually carrying right now — confusion, fear, a decision you cannot make, a relationship you keep turning over, a day that will not settle. You ask in your own words. You get one considered answer, a few short ways of looking at it drawn from different traditions, one small thing you can do in the next three minutes, and the honest experiences of people who have stood where you are standing.

You do not have to ask. You can read what other people asked, sit for three minutes, or leave again. Nothing here is trying to keep you on the page.

What this is not

It is not a blog, though there are longer pieces to read. It is not a forum, because unmoderated advice about people’s lives and bodies causes harm. It is not a prediction service. And it is not medical, psychological or psychiatric care, and never a substitute for it.

The four kinds of thing you will read here

They are always labelled, and the difference matters.

A Now Answer is the considered response to a question. It is written or approved by a named person, carries the date it was last reviewed, and is the only thing on the page that speaks with the site’s own voice.

A Perspective is one tradition’s way of looking at the same question — breath, meditation, the mind, manifestation, astrology, prasnam, stillness. It is offered as that tradition’s view. It is not presented as established fact, and it is not a forecast.

A Practice is something small and specific to do now: a minute of breathing, three minutes of sitting, a short movement. Every practice carries its own cautions, and those cautions are part of the practice, not fine print.

An Experience is one person telling you what happened to them. It is not advice, it is not instruction, and it is never a remedy. We deliberately do not call these answers, because the person writing is not answering for anyone but themselves.

Astrology here

We use astrology to understand the present moment, not to predict the future. Most astrology online is arranged around one question — what will happen? — and it tends to leave people more afraid of tomorrow than they were yesterday. The question here is a different one: what does this moment invite you to notice? Nothing on this site forecasts your health, your money, your marriage or your safety, and no decision about any of those should rest on anything you read here. Prasnam is treated the same way: a question about this moment, not a verdict on your life.

Where we stop

Everything here is education and traditional perspective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a treatment, a prescription or a cure, and nobody writing here is acting as your clinician. If something is affecting your health, please see a qualified doctor. Do not stop, reduce or change any medication because of anything you read on this site. If a practice makes you dizzy, breathless or unwell, stop doing it.

If things are heavy right now

The Now is not a crisis service, and it is not staffed to be one. If you are in real distress, or thinking about harming yourself, please talk to someone who can help properly, today. In India, both of these are free, national and answer around the clock:

Tele-MANAS — 14416
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, available in many languages.

KIRAN — 1800-599-0019
Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, 24 hours.

There is no shame in ringing either of them, and you do not need to be in an emergency to do it.

Who writes here

Every answer on this site is signed by a real, named person, with the date it was last reviewed. Nothing is published as though an institution wrote it, because a page nobody will put their name to is a page you should not trust. Contributors write only within what they actually know: someone who teaches breath does not answer an astrology question with authority, and nobody here answers a medical one at all.

Your question is yours

You can ask without giving a name. Questions asked anonymously stay anonymous, including in our own records. If you leave an email so we can tell you when your question is answered, it is used for exactly that and nothing else — never marketing, never shared, never merged with any other list of ours.

Where this is

The Now is being built, in public and slowly, which is the only honourable way to build something that tells people not to hurry. Some of what is described above is live; most of it is still being written. Sitting quietly, at least, already works.
